The Two Bin System involves the use of both a Black Trash Bin for all garbage and a Blue Recycling Bin for recyclable items.
Curbside Recycling is a service where a local government or a private company provides blue bins for the purpose of collecting recyclable materials directly from residents. This recycling service is used successfully throughout Hampton Roads, the Peninsula, and the greater Richmond metro area.
Papers, bottles, cardboard, and cans are the primary targeted recyclable items. These items must be clean and dry for the recycling process to be effective. Please note that plastic bags obstruct the process and are not accepted.
Curbside Recycling is a convenient, efficient, and effective service. It works!
Blue Bins are provided to participating residents. These residents deposit clean and dry recyclable goods into the Blue Bins for processing.
These items are recycled into new products and do not end up in the landfills. Recycling is a small effort with a big impact.
In comparison, the One Bin System for all trash is unproven.
The One Bin System is defined as a one-bin depository for all garbage, both recyclable and non-recyclable.
The sorting process is done with an unproven AI Technology. This One-Bin system has failed where it has been implemented throughout the country.
